Missionary Training (MT), Missionary Renewal (MR) and ReEntry
Hiring FAQs
Each year the MK Ministry Office hires staff to minister at the annual Missionary Training (formerly CS/PFO), Missionary Renewal (formerly SOM) and ReEntry programs in Springfield, Missouri. If you are interested in being a part of the summer programs, please read through the FAQs below. HOW DO I APPLY TO WORK MT/ MR/ ReEntry?
Applications are posted on the ISMK website beginning January 1, 2010. Follow the links to “Work MT/ MR/ ReEntry” and “Continue to application.” You may fill out the form and submit it electronically. Please note the special requirements for references. Under the policies of the General Council of the Assemblies of God, no exceptions can be made for the reference requirements. Also note that we must receive the original background check release form before you will be considered for hiring.
WHAT POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
All positions involve working directly or indirectly with Missionary kids, from infants through high school. The programs break down as follows:
Nursery/Toddler (Infants-23 months)
Beginner (2-3 year olds)
Preschool (4-5 year olds)
Early Elementary (kindergarten-grade 3)
Upper Elementary (grades 4 & 5)
Junior High (grades 6-8)
Senior High (grades 9-12)
Logistics
Each program has unique needs. Personnel are hired to work directly with children in an individual program, either as a coordinator or staff. Additionally, each program needs a logistics coordinator to work indirectly with MKs and provide logistical support.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO APPLY?
We abide by all applicable employment laws as well as corporate policy. Missouri law prohibits anyone under 16 years old to work more than 20 hours a week.
DO I HAVE TO BE AN MK TO APPLY?
No, you do not have to be an MK to apply and work the summer programs. MKs have unique experiences that allow them to understand the lives of other MKs. But the ISMK summer program abides by all applicable non-discrimination laws in the hiring of personnel.
WHAT ARE THE DATES I AM APPLYING TO WORK?
Employment dates for MT/ MR/ ReEntry: June 6 –July 3, 2010
Employment dates for ReEntry ONLY: June 19 – June 26, 2010
WHAT ARE THE HOURS I AM APPLYING TO WORK?
The MK program is not an 8-5 job. The hours vary from day to day and a certain amount of flexibility is expected with regard to daily schedules. Employees average 50 hours per week for the duration of the program.
IF I AM HIRED, HOW IS TRAVEL TO AND FROM SPRINGFIELD ARRANGED?
You are responsible to arrange your own travel to and from Springfield. The MK program will reimburse staff up to $500 for actual travel expenses with an original receipt.
WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DUE?
The deadline to submit applications, reference forms and background check forms is
April 1, 2010.
WHEN WILL I HEAR ABOUT MY APPLICATION?
Hiring decisions will be made by April 15, 2010 and every applicant will be notified of their status. We are unable to make hiring decisions and notifications prior to that date.
WHAT WAGES ARE OFFERED?
Wages will start at $7.25/ hr.
HOW ARE APPLICANTS CHOSEN?
Hiring decisions will abide by the hiring practices of the General Council of the Assemblies of God and all applicable laws.
